Mgr. Radko Martínek

Member of the ECG, Minister for Regional Development

Born 6.6.1956 in Brno. Graduated in 1980 from the Faculty of Arts of Palacky University in Olomouc as a teacher of history and civics. In 1993 he did a course of extension studies in geography at the Faculty of Science of Palacky University. From 1980 to 1988 he worked at a technical school at Moravska Trebova as a schoolteacher and from 1988 to 1994 also as a teacher at the Gymnasium in Moravska Trebova. Elected for a term of office 1994 to 1998 as council leader in the town Moravska Trebova. Married in 1979, his wife is director of the Museum at Moravska Trebova. Has two children, Radka and Hana. From 1979 to 1990 a member of the Communist Party and since 1996 a member of CSSD (Czech Social Democratic Party). Stood for this party in municipal and parliamentary elections. In his capacity of council leader he represented the district Svitavy on the Council of Association of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic where he held the post of chairman of the Regional Commission of the Association of Municipalities of the Czech Republic. Since 15.7.1998 has been a deputy for the constituency Pardubice and a member of the Committee for Public Administration, Regional Development and the Environment, and since 2002 its chairman. He is a member of the CSSD club of deputies and from 25.4.2000 to 18.3.2003 he was its deputy chairman. In CSSD is president of the District Executive Committee Svitavy and member of the presidium of the Central Executive Committee of CSSD.
