Committee for the European Union approved mandate for the October European Council

The Committee for the European Union approved at its 135th meeting on 23th October 2013 the mandate for the Prime Minister at the European Council (24th till 25th October 2013 in Brussels). The main discussions topics of the session are the digital agenda and the deepening of the Economic and Monetary Union including its social dimension.

The Committee also approved the Report on the Implementation of the National Reform Programme of the Czech Republic in 2013. The document was prepared within the framework of the on-going European Semester of economic policy coordination. Its main purpose is to provide information on the current state of play in the process of implementation of reform measures, which respond to the Council recommendations for 2013 approved by the Economic and Financial Affairs Council on 4th July 2013. Beyond the implementation of the Council recommendations, the document includes an overview of the implementation of reform measures in the National Reform Programme of the Czech Republic for 2013 approved by the Government of the Czech Republic on 17th April 2013.

Further, the Committee discussed and approved the position of the Czech Government on the backstops within the framework of the preparation of the banking union and the position on the digital agenda.
