The letter of thanks from Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić to Bohuslav Sobotka

Belgrade, May 23, 2014

Dear Mr. Sobotka,

On this occasion I would like to most cordially thank for the assistance that the Government of the Czech Republic provided to Serbia in these extremely hard times for my country. Rains that had been falling for only a few days last week caused cataclysmic floods. The major parts of Central and Western Serbia were under water, we lost many human lives and immeasurable material damage was caused. Crops, roads, railroads and homes of many citizens were ruined or damaged, while our livestock is decimated.

I am convinced that human life losses and material damage would have been of far greater extent if it had not been for the assistance of the Czech Republic. I would particularly emphasize significance of pumps, boats and rescue vehicles that were of immense importance for protection of flood affected areas in.

Serbia and Serbian people will never forget the unselfish and timely assistance of the Czech Republic, and we highly appreciate your gesture as a proof of true friendship. I owe you my personal gratitude for providing help for those in need.

Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.

Alexandar Vučić
