Premier Sobotka Meets Prime Ministers of Moldova and Georgia Several Days before the Signature of Association Agreements

Prime Minister Sobotka attended on Sunday an informal meeting near Tulcea, Romania. Arranged by Romanian Premier Victor Ponty, the meeting was attended by the prime ministers of Slovakia, Serbia, Moldova, and Georgia. During the event, Sobotka expressed support for efforts of the Serbian, Moldovan, and Georgian governments to integrate their countries into the European Union and offered assistance by sharing the Czech Republic's experience with preparations for EU accession. Further, he applauded the signing of association agreements between the EU and Georgia and Moldova as an important element of political and economic stabilization in South Eastern Europe. Issues debated by the prime ministers at the get-together included the current security situation in Ukraine, possibilities of economic cooperation between Central and South Eastern European countries, and the progress of negotiations aimed at forming the new EU leadership following the European Parliamentary elections.
