Meeting of the Prime Minister with the President of Mongolia Elbegdorj

The Prime Minister met the President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj at the Hrzánský Palace on Monday 19th January 2015. The main issue on the agenda was the enhancement of cooperation between the two countries.

The President and the Prime Minister talked primarily about mutual economic cooperation in the fields of the mining industry, social affairs, culture and education.

”This year we celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, which should motivate us to further develop our mutual cooperation in all areas of common interest. This important year represents thus an opportunity to think about how to deepen the economic cooperation as well,“ commented the Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka on the negotiations.

Mongolia is a traditional trade partner of the Czech Republic in the Asian region. From the 1960s to the 1980s, Czechoslovakia was the second most important economic partner of Mongolia. In 2012, the volume of trade between the two countries reached a record-breaking level.

The President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj came to the Czech Republic at the invitation of the Czech President Miloš Zeman. He met several state representatives during the visit. On Tuesday 20th January, he visited the Charles University in Prague.
