NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to Visit the Czech Republic

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka will meet with Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg who has accepted the premier's invitation to visit the Czech Republic in September 2015. The main topic of their discussions will be the adaptation of NATO to the changing security situation.

Issues discussed by Sobotka and Stoltenberg will include the implementation of the NATO Readiness Action Plan adopted at the Wales Summit in September 2014, the Czech Republic's contribution to its fulfillment, and preparations for the NATO summit scheduled to be held in Warsaw in July 2016.

The discussions will be attended by the prime minister's delegation that will include First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Andrej Babiš, Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Research, and Innovation Pavel Bělobrádek, Minister of Defense Martin Stropnický, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek. While in Prague, Secretary General Stoltenberg will also meet with Czech President Miloš Zeman.

Jens Stoltenberg will visit the Czech Republic for the first time after being appointed Secretary General of NATO in October 2014. The last occasion when the Secretary General of NATO visited the Czech Republic was 2014, when Prime Minister Sobotka received Anders Fogh Rasmussen in Prague.
