Response of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka to Terror Attacks in Paris

At this difficult time, I want to express my solidarity with the French nation and my deepest sympathy to the families of the victims.

The brutal terror attacks perpetrated in Paris were a criminal act of the most heinous nature. I am truly appaled by the number of innocent victims. France deserves all our support and solidarity.

Europe must remain strong and prepared to defend its values, to ensure the security of its citizens, and to fight terrorism together. This morning, I spoke to the Minister of Interior and the Director of the Security Information Service (BIS). Necessary security measures have been adopted in response to the terror attacks in Paris, and we are communicating closely with our European partners.

Based on available information, I can say that no imminent threat exists in the Czech Republic at the present time. Another assessment of the security situation will be carried out by our security forces this afternoon, and an extraordinary meeting of the directors of the National Security Council is scheduled to take place today at the Office of the Government at 4:00 p.m. today.

Bohuslav Sobotka, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic
