Prime Minister Sobotka met with the Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Asselborn

On Wednesday the 2nd of March 2016 in the Straka Academy, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn, who came to Prague at the invitation of the Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek. Together they discussed the current situation in the EU and preparations for the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of the birth of Charles IV.

The main topic of discussion was the European agenda. Concerning migration, they agreed to maintain Schengen, free movement across the Union and better protection of the EU’s external borders.

This year the Czech Republic along with the Duchy of Luxembourg will celebrate the 700th anniversary of the birth of the Count of Luxembourg, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV. This important anniversary reminds us of Czech-Luxembourg history. During the meeting the Prime Minister showed his appreciation that Grand Duke Henry of Luxembourg accepted an invitation to participate in the celebration of this important anniversary.

Luxembourg is an important partner for foreign trade and investment.

Bohuslav Sobotka last met with Jean Asselborn in Prague during his last visit to the Czech Republic in 2014.
