Premier Babiš congratulated Sebastian Kurz on being appointed Austrian Federal Chancellor

On Monday, 18 December 2017, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš sent a letter to the new Austrian Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, congratulating him on his appointment to the office.

"I am glad that the Austrian coalition has declared a pro-European direction and that our countries will be strong partners in the European Union. The Czech government sees an important ally in Austria, with whom it can better promote joint interests of Central Europe, currently in particular concerning the reform of the asylum system,“ said Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.

In the letter, Premier Babiš highlighted the friendly relations between the Czech Republic and Austria, that stem from being good neighbours, from trade and inter-personal contacts and partnership in the European Union. He also underlined the importance of cooperation under the Slavkov Declaration where both countries are joined by Slovakia.

„We wish to further develop the high-level political dialogue and to enhance mutual cooperation mainly in transport, industry and economy or in cross-border projects, both bilaterally and on the level of the Central European region,“ Premier Babiš added.

Premier Babiš also wished success and happiness in working and private life to the new Federal Chancellor Kurz.
