Premier Babiš met in Brussels with Czechs working in EU institutions

On the eve of the European Council meeting, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš met with Czechs working in EU institutions. The meeting was attended by more than a hundred of Czech officials who work in the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council and other institutions.

For the government of Andrej Babiš, the support of Czechs in institutions is one of the priorities of the Czech European policy. The premier thanked the Czech officials for their work to date and for representing Czechia on the Brussels soil.

"Since our joining the EU we have underestimated our participation and we have not been active enough and the representation of our people in European institutions is not ideal. I want to change that radically now. Although we are a small country, we can be more active, make proposals and join with other countries, not only within V4. Representation of the Czech Republic in EU bodies is an important factor and it has an impact on our position in the Union. And so I am pleased that we have met here in such a high number. We share the same goal. A strong Czech Republic in strong Europe,“ said Premier Andrej Babiš in the introduction to the discussion.

The meeting was also joined by the Czech Ambassador to the EU, Martin Povejšil, and the State Secretary for European Affairs, Aleš Chmelař.
