Premier Babiš met with representatives of the compatriots club American Friends of the Czech Republic

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš received on Friday, 4 May 2018, in the Straka Academy, representatives of the compatriots club American Friends of the Czech Republic (AFoCR) headed by its President Thomas Dine. The main themes of the meeting were the Czech-American bilateral relations as well as historic links between the Czech Republic and the US, mainly with regard to the 100th anniversary of the independent Czechoslovakia.

A common theme of the discussion was also the current political situation in the Czech Republic. The prime minister appreciated the club's important role in building the good name of the Czech Republic in the United States of America. He also spoke with the organisation's representatives about cooperation of the two countries in economy, science and defence.

AFoCR is a leading association of compatriots and friends of the Czech Republic that seeks to further the mutual trade and cultural relations. It played an important role, among other things, in unveiling a statue of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk in the diplomatic district of Washington, D.C., and a bust of Václav Havel in the building of the American Congress.
