Premier Babiš spoke with Danish Finance Minister Jensen about economic cooperation, digitalisation and European issues

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš received on Tuesday, 12 June 2018, the Minister of Finance of the Kingdom of Denmark, Kristian Jensen. The main themes of the meeting were economic issues, digitalisation and computerisation of State administration as well as the current European agenda.

Premier Babiš and Minister Jensen discussed above all the Czech-Danish bilateral relations. They particularly spoke about economic topics including the possibilities of further intensification of the Czech-Danish cooperation in the economic area where many opportunities are available e.g. in energy, the defence industry, construction or agriculture. They also spoke about the potential for mutual exchange of experience in digitalisation and computerisation of State administration.

Another subject of the discussion were European Union issues, mainly the future of the Union after Brexit, the form of the upcoming Union budget, migration and the role of the Czech Republic and Denmark as countries outside the euro area and the banking union.

Minister Jensen arrived in Prague as the main speaker at the ceremony of Awards for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, which will take place on 12 June 2018 in the Czernin Palace. In terms of support for sustainable development, both Denmark and the Czech Republic are among the most advanced countries. According to the last assessment of progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the Czech Republic ranked 5th, immediately after the Nordic States including Denmark. The Czech Republic is also currently chairing the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) which plays a central coordination role in delivering the Sustainable Development Goals.
