Prime Minister Babiš and Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt, Reiner Haseloff, discussed economic cooperation

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš met on Monday, 8 October 2018, with Minister-President of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, Reiner Haseloff. They spoke about investment opportunities in Saxony-Anhalt and about Czech-German relations.

Premier Andrej Babiš appreciated the excellent relations with Germany and with the individual federal states, which are significantly enhanced by the Czech-German strategic dialogue. In connection with that, the Premier mentioned the role of the Czech-German Future Fund that has been in operation for 20 years and has provided grant at around EUR 50 mil. to nearly 10,000 projects.

Another topic of the meeting were the economic relations of both countries. FRG is the largest business partner of the Czech Republic, and Saxony-Anhalt ranks 9th among the federal states in terms of the volume of mutual trade. The trade between the Czech Republic and Saxony-Anhalt is continuously growing and in 2017 it reached nearly EUR 1.5 billion.

Reiner Haseloff has been the Minister-President since 2011.
