The Prime Minister presents awards for the most responsible foreign investors

On Monday 14 October 2019 Škoda Auto Board Member Bohdan Wojnar received the Responsible Foreign Investor award from Prime Minister Andrej Babiš at Lichtenštejnský Palace. This is the first year in which the government has decided to present awards to companies with foreign capital for the exceptional contribution their investments have made to the Czech economy.

Four companies received the awards in their first year. Minister of the Environment Richard Brabec presented the Positive Environmental Impact award to Innogy Česká republika. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček gave the Positive Regional Impact award to Albert Česká republika, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Alena Schillerová presented the Positive Social Impact award to Vodafone Czech Republic. At the end of the evening Prime Minister Andrej Babiš presented the main award to a representative of this country’s largest carmaker, Škoda Auto.

The awards are aimed at encouraging foreign companies operating in the Czech Republic to invest in activities that will benefit the country as a whole. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš explained the purpose behind the new awards: “We want to motivate companies to be socially responsible, so they won’t be reluctant to present themselves publicly in this way. There can never be too much money for supporting culture, education, sport and other things.”

The government wants this awards ceremony to become a new tradition. “It’s important for us that as much capital as possible remains here in the Czech Republic,” the Prime Minister added.
