The Czech Republic joins the debate on the future of Europe's social dimension

Today, the Office of the Government submitted the Czech Republic's Contribution to the Preparation of the Action Plan of the European Pillar of Social Rights. The document is the Czech Government's entry to the extensive public consultation announced by the European Commission on the preparation of the Action Plan.

The European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) was approved on 17 November 2017. The new College of Commissioners led by President Ursula von der Leyen pledged to present an Action Plan in 2021. The Commission therefore called on social partners and authorities at EU, national, regional and local level to share their views and solutions regarding the EPSR's implementation. Participants are also encouraged to present their own concrete commitments on how to best achieve the EPSR's 20 principles. Interested parties have until 30 November 2020 to submit their contributions to the public consultation.

Following the Commission's request, the Government prepared the Contribution of the Czech Republic. Social and economic partners (of the tripartite) were consulted during the drafting process. The document was approved by the Government on 9 November 2020 and translated in English then. The document iterates measures at EU-level that the Government deems necessary for the fulfilment of all EPSR's principles. For example, the Czech Republic is striving for greater support for occupational mobility within the EU and the removal of persisting obstacles to the free movement of workers in the EU. Based on these various contributions collected the Commission is going to present the EPSR Action Plan early next year.
