Open doors in Straka Academy

On the October 28th, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Date of Establishment of Independent Czechoslovak State, the doors of Straka Academy, the seat of the Czech Government, have been open for the general public. The number of visitors has approximated 2,000 this year.

strakovka rytinaAfter a pause of two years, between 09.00 a.m. and 05.00 p.m., the citizens have had an opportunity to see the Government meeting hall, the press conference hall, several office suites, the garden, the secretariat, and the Prime Minister’s office, where Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek greeted the visitors and answered their questions between 01.30 p.m. and 02.20 p.m.
At 02.30 p.m., an extraordinary “session of the Government” began in the meeting hall, headed by the Prime Minister. The parts of the ministers have been played by students of the last grade of Sázavská Grammar School in Prague. Each of the “ministers” has prepared a proposal on behalf of his department, and defended it at the “Government session”. In the course of 45 minutes, the student Cabinet successfully discussed and approved several laws.
