Ice Hockey Turning a New Leaf

Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek will on Monday, 4 December 2006, attend the ceremony of admitting the Czech Sledge Hockey Association as a member of the Czech Ice Hockey Association.

sledgeThe ceremony will also be attended, among others, by Mr. Vratislav Kulhánek, President of the Executive Committee of CIHA; Mr. Karel Gut, Honorary President of CIHA; Mr. Tomáš Zelenka, Secretary General of CSHA, and other prominent guests. The programme will commence with an exhibition of a sledge hockey match, followed by the speeches of the Czech Prime Minister and the CIHA President. All guests will then have an opportunity to try and play sledge hockey right on the ice rink. The VIP sector offers refreshments to the guests and journalists, with a presentation of accomplishments achieved by Czech sledge hockey thus far.

The Czech Republic, given the number of sledge hockey teams, belongs to the world’s leading sledge hockey powers. By integrating our handicapped athletes, associated in 6 clubs, among the foremost Czech ice hockey teams, they will gain access not only to the organisational and technological resources, but will also gain significant long-term financial support.

The ceremony will take place on 4 December 2006 at 02.00 p.m. in T- Mobile Arena, Výstaviště, Praha 7 - Holešovice, gate HC Sparta Praha.

Journalists are expected to appear no later than 15 minutes before the beginning.
