Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek Meeting Chairman of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso

Earlier yesterday, on March 5, 2007, Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek met José Manuel Barroso, Chairman of the European Commission, as part of the Czech Premier’s working visit to Brussels

At a press conference after their talks the Czech Prime Minister said that the Czech Republic would not block the future contractual framework of the European Union but would not hurry either. Premier Mirek Topolánek also believes that negotiations on the controversial wording of the European Constitution, which has been dividing the whole European Union since the unsuccessful referendums in France and the Netherlands, may accelerate the entire process. Premier Mirek Topolánek emphasized that "the quality of the document was more important than any tough deadline".
