Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic today received Mr. John Prescott, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

During their talks both statesmen discussed the issues of preparation for the Czech presidency of the European Union and the climate changes. The Czech Prime Minister congratulated his British guest on the release of the detained British troops whose kidnapping by Iran had been condemned by the Czech Republic. Other topics under discussion included revision of the EU Financial Perspective and reform of its Common Agricultural Policy.
