Appointment of the Government Council for the Information Society

At its meeting today the Government of the Czech Republic has appointed members of the Government Council for the Information Society.

This Council, as the Government’s expert consultative body for the information society, was established on March 28, 2007. It is an interdepartmental body whose key role will lie primarily in coordinating work instead of the abolished Information Ministry. Its first task will to submit to the Government a strategic document on the development of Czech eGovernment.

Since the Council is primarily an expert body, it is composed of specialists whose education and professional qualifications guarantee that the Council will, indeed, provide a sufficiently expert background to the Government’s decision-making in the sphere of eGovernment, and information and communication technologies. The proposed members of the Council have been selected according to those criteria in a bid to make the Council representative of all the major institutions involved in the promotion of the information society and in the building of eGovernment in the Czech Republic.
