Premier To Meet V4 Environment Ministers

Today, on Thursday, May 24, 2007, Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic will meet Environment Ministers of the Visegrad Group of four countries for a working dinner.

The Premier will meet the V4 Environment Ministers for talks on their possible support for a joint position in the process of approving the new Directive on Waste which is to be discussed at the EU Council for the Environment in June 2007. Other topics to be debated will be the future of the process known as The Environment for Europe and The New Generation of Environmental Policy. Discussion on climate change is expected to result in the approval of specific steps at the level of V4 as a whole and in the individual member countries in the implementation of an efficient policy for the protection of the Earth’s climatic system in close connection with the EU energy policy.

The working dinner will be held in the Kramáø Villa, Gogolova 1, Prague 1 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
