Premier to Visit International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary

On Thursday, July 5 and then on Saturday July 7, 2007 Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic will visit the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary.

The Karlovy Vary event ranks among the leading A-category international film festivals in Central and Eastern Europe. It is the only festival of this kind in the Czech Republic, and one of the oldest film festivals in the world. It was held for the first time back in 1946.

The Premier will attend the closing ceremony during which the international jury will award the festival’s main prize - the Crystal Globe - to the best film.

The gala evening ending the 42nd International Film Festival will be held in the Great Hall of the Thermal spa hotel, I.P. Palvova 1, Karlovy Vary on Saturday, July 7, 2007, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
