Pilot Operation of Anti-corruption Telephone Line 199 To Be Launched

At a press conference to be held tomorrow, on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek together with Interior Minister Ivan Langer will launch the pilot project of anti-corruption telephone line 199.

Pilot Operation of Anti-corruption Telephone Line 199 To Be LaunchedDuring the pilot operation, based on a selection procedure, the anti-corruption line 199 will be run by the non-government non-profit organization Transparency International that will also provide citizens with free legal assistance in cases of corruption behaviour. Citizens will be also told which particular state authority or agency they should call in a given matter. The launch of the anti-corruption telephone line 199 will also attended by Transparency International Director Adriana Krnáčová.

At the end of the press conference the Prime Minister will make a trial phone call to the anti-corruption telephone line 199.

Wednesday’s press conference will be held in the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, nábøeží Edvarda Beneše 4, Prague 1, beginning at 1.00 p.m.

Journalists are requested to arrive at least 15 minutes before the event.
