February 25, 2008: Premier To Recall February Events in 1948, Prague’s Old Town Square

On Monday, February 25, 2008, Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek will attend another in a series of gatherings marking the dramatic events that occurred in Prague sixty years ago - the communist coup in February 1948. Together with other guests, the Czech Prime Minister will deliver a speech from the balcony of house No. 12 in the Old Town Square, addressing a public rally. Attended by former resistance fighters and youth, this gathering will be devoted to spiritual purification of the historical place connected with the communist coup in 1948. Monday’s event is organized by the civic association Art Without Barriers in conjunction with the Czech Republic’s Confederation of Political Prisoners and Inter-ASSO (the International Association of Former Political Prisoners and Victims of Communism).
