February 27, 2008: Further Program of Czech PM´s Visit to USA

The Czech Government delegation, led by Premier Mirek Topolánek, continues its working visit to the United States. The key engagements of the Czech delegation in the US on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 include:

 meeting of Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek with US President George W. Bush in the Oval Office in the White House (topics to be discussed: ending the visa asymmetry between the two countries, eventual location of elements of the anti-missile defence system in the Czech Republic, NATO summit in Bucharest in April, and other current foreign-policy issues and possibilities of promoting bilateral economic contacts);
 working lunch with Vice President Dick Cheyney;
 laying flowers at the statue of T. G. Masaryk;
 address in the CSIS conference center (the Czech Premier will deliver a speech on the subject “Why Security Challenges in Central Europe Still Matter?“);
 meeting Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives;
 meeting Richard Durbin, Senate´s Deputy Chairman;
 participation in the opening of the Czech Caucus in the US Congress (including a visit to an exhibition of T. G. Masaryk´s written documents from the Congress Library);
