June 3, 2008: New Columns on the Web Pages of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic

In June 2008, new columns have been added to the web pages of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, namely: Téma (Topic), On-line rozhovor (On-Line Interview), Na pravou míru (Setting the Records Straight) and Pøedstavujeme (Introducing). The Office of the Government of the Czech Republic is responding to the ever growing number of visitors to the Government portal www.vlada.cz, and to the worldwide trend in presenting Governments on the Internet, thus trying to improve and upgrade the quality of communication with the public.

Preparations for the Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2009 are the key topic of the Government’s web pages for the following days. The Téma (Topic) column gives basic information, complete with a link to an extensive document on the priorities of the Czech Republic for the EU presidency. The Government portal also introduces the two Deputies of the Czech Vice Premier responsible for the preparation of the Czech presidency Alexandr Vondra. His Deputy Jana Hendrichová is in charge of the preparations in organizational terms, while Deputy Marek Mora is responsible for the content and priorities of the presidency. Both Deputies will be answering questions posed by visitors to the web pages in an on-line interview on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 beginning at 10:00 a.m.

In addition to the above mentioned, there is a new column called Na pravou míru (Setting the Records Straight). In it readers will find information that usually doesn’t get into the media or which reacts or denies media reports. An article entitled „Zahranièní cesta není dovolená“ (Foreign Visit is Not a Holiday) explains why the Premier has been making so many official foreign visits and what is their benefit for the Czech Republic.

At present, the Press Department of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic is preparing other novelties on the web pages at the address: www.vlada.cz. In the following months readers will find new columns, such as Komentáø pøedsedy vlády (The Premier´s Comment), where Mirek Topolánek will be responding in audio recordings to current events, or the column named Za premiérem (Meeting the Premier) where the Czech Prime Minister will answer public queries in a TV interview. The web pages will also be redesigned by the end of this year. The web pages of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic have been following the activities of Premier Mirek Topolánek, publishing information on the work of the Government, namely through current affairs reports, press releases, advisories, recordings from press conferences, addresses by the Premier or photo galleries. The Government’s web pages are intended to meet the great demand for information on the Czech Premier and his activities.
