Aug 21st, 2008: Premier To Open Exhibition in the Garden of the Straka Academy It Will Be Open to the Public on Weekends

At 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2008, Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek will inaugurate an exhibition marking the fortieth anniversary of the events in August 1968, called “For Your Freedom and Ours“. He will also open to the public the garden of the Straka Academy, the official seat of the Czech Government. Part of the preview of the exhibition will be a meeting with participants, demonstrators against the Soviet-led occupation in 1968, and an award-giving ceremony.

The exhibition “For Your Freedom and Ours“, prepared by the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, will be open to the public in the garden of the Straka Academy during the weekends until the end of October. People can newly visit the venue of official receptions of foreign statesmen regularly during the weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. between April and the end of October. 


4:30 p.m. - inauguration of the exhibition
