Premier Mirek Topolánek Talked to US President-elect Barack Obama

Before coming into office, the United States President-elect Barack Obama talked last night with Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek, the current President of the Council of the European Union.

Barack Obama is well-informed about the priorities of the Czech EU presidency and views them as important. He has also praised the role played by the Czech Republic in the EU mission to the Middle East (Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg led a delegation that also included his Swedish and French counterparts, and officials of the European Commission).
