Exhibition 27 - 28 October 2007: Symbols of the Czech Republic

The historical roots of official Czech state symbols.

On 27-28 October 2007 the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic put on the exhibition Symbols of the Republic at the Hrzán Palace, acquainting visitors with the historical roots of the official Czech state symbols, including the large and small emblem, the state colours, the flag, the presidential flag, the state seal and the national anthem. The most important documents of the foreign and domestic resistance against Austria-Hungary, Masaryk’s Washington declaration and Rašín’s first Czechoslovak act were exhibited together for the first time, to draw attention to the breakthrough importance of the establishment of Czechoslovakia on 28 October 1918.

The National Archives and the National Museum helped with the preparations for the exhibition, exhibits were also lent by the Office of the President of the Republic and the Archive of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

The exhibition was opened as a part of the Open Days.
