Music against poverty contest 2009

The ‘Music against poverty’ contest 2009 aims to offer young European Union citizens an opportunity to consider the EU’s fundamental role in fighting world poverty by submitting a song which reflects this theme.

The song must contain a message on the fight against poverty or development cooperation. In this way, young Europeans are being asked to become more involved in these areas, in particular by visiting the website www.ifightpoverty.eu.

Songs must be submitted on the ‘Music against poverty’ contest pages before 31 August 2009, 23:59:59 CET. Voting is allowed until 09/09/09, 9:09 CET. Participants are allowed to vote as many times as they like but not more than once each day. Winners will be announced on the website on Tuesday 15 September 2009.

The winner of the contest will obtain a professional recording of their song performed in a professional studio. They will also be invited to perform at the European Development Days in Stockholm on 22-24 October 2009. Travel and accommodation will be organised and paid for by the European Commission.

European Union citizens not younger than 15 and not older than 30 may enter this competition.
