The winners of the annual European eDemocracy Award will be known this week. Among finalists is also website of the Czech Presidency cz2009.eu

The Brussels-based not-for-profit organisation, European Center of Political Technologies, included the website of the Czech Presidency cz2009.eu among this year’s finalists for the annual European eDemocracy Award.

As the Minister for European Affairs, Štefan Füle, informed us: "I regard the inclusion of the Czech Presidency website among the finalists of this competition to be a great success – it confirms the fact that our team performed top-quality work." During the period of the presidency, the Czech website was visited by over two million people, a higher volume than in previous years.

The selected websites are awarded for using the internet to contribute to reinforcing democracy and for involving citizens in public debate. The competition winner will be decided on 22 October at a gala evening for the 10th international „World e-Democracy Forum“ in Paris.
