Barack Obama thanks Czech Prime Minister for hospitality

PRESS RELEASE

Prague, 23 April 2010 – US President Barack Obama yesterday sent a thank-you letter to Czech Prime Minister Jan Fischer. He stated, among other things, that the ceremonial signing of the new START Treaty would go down in history, called the Czech Republic a close ally and expressed his gratitude for the Czech Republic’s participation in Afghanistan.

“Thank you very much for your exceptional hospitality during our visit to Prague. I appreciate the way that you and your Government ensured that our short stay in this beautiful country ran smoothly,” wrote Barack Obama, adding: “We believe that the Atlantic Alliance is crucial to our common interests and global security. I look forward to our further cooperation both bilaterally and within NATO.”
