Straka Academy Opened to the Public on Saturday

The Straka Academy, the official seat of the Czech Government, will be opened to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4.

Visitors to the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic will have a unique opportunity to see an exhibition by Jiří Sozánský entitled “Day 27”, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the execution of Dr. Milada Horáková, Záviš Kalandra, Jan Buchal and Dr. Oldřich Pecl by the communist regime.

The exhibition features collages, large-format canvases, sculptures displayed inside the Straka Academy and a statue called Mater Mortis standing in front of the entrance to the building.

Sightseeing tours of the Straka Academy will include screening of a documentary on the residences of the Czech Prime Ministers, namely the Kramář Villa in Prague and the Hana and Edvard Beneš Villa at Sezimovo Ústí, and on the palaces administered by the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic: the Lichtenštejnský Palace on Prague’s Kampa Isle, and the Hrzánský Palace in Loretánská Street.

The garden of the Straka Academy will be also opened to the public. ln this connection, we would like to remind visitors that during the Open Days they can enter the Straka Academy only through the main entrance. The gate on Kosárkovo nábřeží will be reserved solely for the departure of visitors.
