Pavel Kysilka

Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of the savings bank Česká spořitelna

Pavel Kysilka graduated from the University of Economics in Prague, and from 1982 onwards was engaged there as an assistant lecturer. From 1986 to 1990 he worked at the Economic Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, and participated in the authorship of a range of publications aimed at transformation, such as "Czechoslovakia at the Crossroads".

In 1990 he was appointed Vice-Dean for Science at the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration of the University of Economics in Prague, and in 1991 he became an adviser to the Minister for Economic Policy. He has headed projects aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and played a leading role in the foundation of the Czech-Moravian Guarantee and Development Bank. In 1992 he was appointed a member of the Bank Board of the Czechoslovak State Bank, and was placed in charge of the preparation and introduction of the Czech koruna and the currency split from Slovakia. In 1993 he was appointed Vice-Governor of the CNB, and in 1998 became Executive Governor.

From 1994 to 1997 he was engaged as an expert for the International Monetary Fund and was involved in the introduction of national currencies in several Eastern European and Central Asian countries. In the 1990s he served as President of the Czech Economic Society and as a member of the Presidium of the National Property Fund. In addition, he has also held positions as a member of the Czech National Theatre Board and as the President of the Formula 1 Club in the Czech Republic.

He is currently a member of the Board of Directors and Deputy CEO of the savings bank Česká spořitelna, where he is in charge of banking operations, IT, strategic and economic analysis and the EU office. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Economics in Prague and the Administrative Board of the music festival "Smetana's Litomyšl".
