Michal Mejstřík

Professor of Economics at the Institute of Economic Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague

Since 1997 Michal Mejstřík has been Professor of Economics at Charles University in Prague, where he lectures on banking and finance. Over the years 1993 to 2010, in his capacity as Director he built up a prestigious university workplace - the Institute of Economic Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague. He is a member of the Société Universitaire Européenne de Recherches Financieres (SUERF).

Professor Michal Mejstřík studied econometrics at the University of Economics in Prague, and was awarded the title of Candidate of Sciences (CSc.) in Economics for his academic research in the field of project evaluation, completing his studies at the London School of Economics (1990-91).

He has published over 150 specialist publications which are frequently cited, especially abroad. Over the last 18 years he has repeatedly been engaged as an external consultant for international organisations (USAID, the World Bank, the European Commission in Central and Eastern Europe and Asia), the Czech Government, and a number of corporations, either independently or through the company EEIP, a.s.

In October 2010 he was elected the Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic (the ICC-CR). He has been the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Czech Aerohlding  since March 2011.
