Tomáš Sedláček

Chief Macroeconomic Business Strategist at Československá obchodní banka

Tomáš Sedláček is Chief Macroeconomic Business Strategist at the bank ČSOB, and also a university lecturer, a journalist, a long-time adviser to leading politicians (advising the President, the Minister of Finance and the Prime Minister based on his role in the National Economic Council) and a frequent commentator in the media.

He is a Yale World Fellow and a PhD candidate at Charles University in Prague, where he regularly lectures. He is also a visiting lecturer at many other universities both in the Czech Republic and abroad (Georgetown, Yale, Wheaton). In 2006 the Yale Economic Review named him one of the "Young Guns: Five Hot Minds in Economics". His academic work has earned him special recognition from the Dean of Charles University and the university's Josef Hlávka Prize for the Best Students and Graduates.

In spring 2009 he published a book, "Economics of Good and Evil: The Quest for Economic Meaning from Gilgamesh to Wall Street", which became a national bestseller. He is a regular contributor to the Thursday edition of the Czech economic newspaper "Hospodářské noviny", and a member of many advisory and statutory bodies of non-profit institutions (the Forum 2000 Foundation, the Diplomatic Academy, the Czech-German Fund for the Future, and others).
