Jiří Schwarz

Professor at the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Economics, Prague

Jiří Schwarz focuses on macroeconomics at the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration of the University of Economics in Prague.

From 2003 to 2010 he was the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration of the University of Economics in Prague. He is the Chairman of the Academic Board of the "Liberální Institut". He is a member of the Administrative Board of L'Institut de Recherches Économiques et Fiscales based in Luxembourg and a member of the Scientific Board of the International Centre for Economic Research in Turin. He is also a member of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration of the University of Economics in Prague and a member of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration of the University of Economics in Bratislava. In 2010 he was elected a member of the Board of Directors of the Mont Pelerin Society.

His current theoretical focus is on economic regulation (in particular of network industries) and economic transformation. His previous studies centred on the development of economic thought, privatization and the development and performance of capital markets. He was involved in research in these areas, and published numerous papers and articles. He is the author of two books and the co-author of two textbooks.

He was a member of the National Economic Council at its inception in 2009, and has been a member again since 2010.
