Tomas Garrigue Masaryk was born on 7 March 1850 in Hodonín where his father worked as a coachman at a manor and his mother, who spoke better German than Czech, worked as a cook at a manor house.

Exhibition: The Paths of Czech Constitutionality
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the adoption of the first Czechoslovak constitution, the Office of the government of the Czech Republic and the National Archives have organized the exhibition The Paths of Czech Constitutionality. For visitors it has been prepared a selection of basic constitutional documents constituting internal relations in the Czech Lands from the middle ages to the present. The exhibition is held from Friday 26 February 2010 to Sunday 7 March 2010.

On 2 February the expert seminar Constitution of the Czech Republic – genesis, development and prospects will be held under the auspices of the prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Fischer and Aleš Gerloch, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Charles University in Prague in the Hrzán Palace (Loretánská Str. 9, Prague 1).
