Prime Minister Sobotka and the Prime Minister Szydlová meet in Český Těšín with representatives of the Polish minority living in the Czech Republic

On Monday 12 December 2016 the heads of government of the Czech Republic and Poland, Bohuslav Sobotka and Beata Szydlová met with the representatives of the Polish minority living around the area of Těšín at the literary café and reading room Avion in Český Těšín.

Overall, within the Czech Republic, Polish nationality is claimed by almost forty thousand people with around twenty-eight thousand living in the Moravian-Silesian Region. In the course of last year alone, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports supported education in the Polish language at a cost of CZK 1.2 million. A further CZK 1.7 million was granted by the Ministry of Culture for cultural events held by the Polish community.
