The Office of the Government, along with other state authorities and institutions, has initiated the transition to a unified domain gov.cz
The Office of the Government is currently transitioning to the new domain https://vlada.gov.cz/. Government websites already operate on this domain, and on 30 November 2023, vlada.gov.cz will become the default domain. By the end of December, the plan is to transfer the email addresses of the Office of the Government to the new domain.
In addition to the main website vlada.cz, other domains managed by the Office of the Government will also be transferred to the new domain:
- odok.cz to odok.gov.cz
- ria.vlada.cz to ria.gov.cz
- tripartita.cz to tripartita.gov.cz
- isap.vlada.cz to isap.gov.cz
- vyzkum.cz to vyzkum.gov.cz
The intention to transition to a unified state domain was approved by the government of Petr Fiala in January this year, and in mid-August they approved a schedule for changes. The primary reasons for this transition include an effort to maximise the cybersecurity of e-government, including the mailboxes of state administration bodies, but also the considerable financial savings that are expected through centralised domain administration for all state authorities and institutions. This will significantly reduce the risk of various scams and enhance the credibility of websites, particularly for foreign visitors. The change should also ensure greater user-friendliness and uniform presentation of the state websites and email domains of officials.
Additionally, by the end of the year, websites of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and certain state institutions, including the National Security Authority, National Cyber and Information Security Agency, National Sports Agency, and Administration of State Material Reserves, are expected to transition to the new unified domain.
Other ministries and organisations managed by them will make the transition to gov.cz between 2024 and 2025.
The unified domain is already used by many EU and NATO countries.
