August 21, 2008: Czech and Slovak Premiers To Commemorate Jointly August 1968

On Thursday, August 21, 2008, Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek will receive his visiting Slovak counterpart Robert Fico. The Slovak Premier will come to the Czech Republic on an official visit on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the landmark events in former Czechoslovakia in August 1968. The two Premiers will meet in the Kramá? Villa, the official seat of the Czech Prime Minister. After a welcoming ceremony and bilateral talks they will lay flowers at the grave of student Marie Charousková who was killed in August 1968, visit the Slovak Institute, and jointly inaugurate an exhibition called “And Tanks Arrived in 1968“ held in Prague’s National Museum.

10.30 a.m. – photo opportunity, welcoming ceremony 
11.35 a.m. – joint press statement by the two Premiers

11.55 a.m. – photo opportunity, laying flowers at the grave of student Marie Charousková

1.50 p.m. – photo opportunity, visit to the Slovak Institute
